YAKARI 2024, the annual gastronomic festival, was successfully held on 29th February 2024 for the second consecutive year at the NSBM Green University Premises, where visitors to the event were welcomed and presented with pure Sri Lankan tradition as well as exquisite taste!
This event was well organised by the Plymouth Tourism undergraduates of the 23.1 batch under the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management as a partial fulfilment of the modules: Introduction to Tourism and Events and, Food and Beverage Operations in collaboration with the International Center for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH) and Foodies Club of NSBM Green University.
YAKARI 2024 was graced by the Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic Development & Quality Assurance, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Ms. Thilini De Silva, Head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, Mr. Venura Colombage, Module Lecturers: Mr. Lasitha De Silva and Ms. Prasanshika Assella, and both academic and non-academic staff of NSBM Green University.
A special mention goes out to the honorary guests of Yakari ’24: Chef Sriyantha Prasad from Cinnamon Lakeside and the delegates from Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), Dr. Charles Russell, Associate Dean International from the School of Computing, Engineering, and Built Environment and Mr. Daniel Baxter, Associate Dean International (Interim).
