“Haritha Kalyana Vesak Mangalyaya – 2024”, a celebration of the Vesak Festival 2024, was held on May 21, 2024, at NSBM Premises, featuring a variety of special events. Organized by the NSBM Buddhist Society in collaboration with all faculties, this annual festival commemorates the sacred day of Vesak Full Moon Poya.

This year’s festival included Dhamma Sermon held at the Student Centre, attracting participation from NSBM staff and students. The Dhamma Sermon was delivered by Venerable Pepiliyane Ariyadeva Rathana Thero. The event also had bhakti gee performances, a Vesak-themed drama, and dansal, which included ice-cream, belimal, manioc, and chickpeas. Additionally, a Vesak decoration competition was held among the four faculties, with the Faculty of Engineering clinching the top spot, followed by the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Science securing second and third places respectively.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, the Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Bharatha Dodakotuwa, deans of all faculties, heads, as well as the academic and non-academic staff members of NSBM.
