Top corporates join hands to groom NSBM business students
C2C 2023 (Campus to Corporate), the flagship corporate grooming programme of NSBM Faculty of Business, launched on 22nd May 2023, completed five successful days and concluded on 26th May 2023.
Since stepping into the corporate world from campus is the most significant transformation in a student’s life, NSBM Green University purposely designed this C2C program to hold annually and invites the top corporates in the country to groom the NSBM undergraduates who are about to go for their internship which is the first ever corporate exposure for them. C2C 2023 was a 5 day programme which was jointly organised by the Professional Advancement Center (PAC) of the Faculty of Business and NFORCE (NSBM for Career & Entrepreneurship).
Throughout these five days, the programme carried out a series of industry awareness sessions by eminent personnel from multiple industry partners spread across various disciplines. Day 1 of C2C 2023 comprised the Launching Ceremony and the sessions for Accounting and Finance, International Business and HRM. The Launching Ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Bharatha Dodankotuwa, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Ms. Thilini De Silva, academics of NSBM and representatives of partner corporates of C2C 2023. The Keynote Speech of the Ceremony was conducted by Mr. Shamal Gunawardhene, Director – Sales and Commercial, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd.
Day 1 of C2C 2023 enriched the students under the disciplines of Accounting and Finance, International Business and HRM. The session on Accounting and Finance was facilitated by Ernst & Young- Sri Lanka, which was conducted by Ms. Anushka Tissera, Associate Director of Talent Team, while the session on International Business Management was conducted by a team from Hemas Holdings PLC comprising Mr. Kasun Sigera, Manager – Internation Business and Ms. Cheranga Weerawardana, Assistant Manager – Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding. Representing Asian Paints Lanka Limited, the session on Human Resource Management was conducted by Mr. Eranga Hettiarachchi, Manager- Employee Relations and Ms. Savindi Banadaranayake, Executive – Talent & Employee Branding.
The second day of the programme comprised the session on Logistics Management which was facilitated by Hayleys Advantis Limited and was conducted by Mr.Ashan Wickramasinghe, Head of Academic Operations, Ms. Arundanie Eliyadura, Manager – Talent Acquisition, Ms. Jayani Rathnasiri, Manager – Safety Sustainability and Compliance, Ms. Yeshani de Silva, Assitant Manager – Human Resource Management, Ms. Sarani Illangasinghe, Senior Executive – Talent Management, Ms. Premitha Pilapitiya, Executive – Learning and Development.
The 3rd successful day included two inspiring sessions on Business Communication and Tourism & Hospitality. The session on Business Communication was facilitated by Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC, which was conducted by Mr. Yohan Thilakaratne, General Manager- Corporate Communications, while representing Teardrop Hotels; the session on Tourism & Hospitality was conducted by Mr. Lukasz Prendke, Chief Operating Officer.
Day 4 of C2C 2023 included sessions on Industrial Management and Personal Grooming & Corporate Etiquette. The session on Industrial Management, which covered various opportunities in the manufacturing management domain, was facilitated by Unilever Sri Lanka and was conducted by Mr. Indika Kumara – 3P Operations Manager – HC, F&R and Ms. Tahanee Harris, Assistant HRBP and Talent & Employer Brand Specialist. The session on Personal Grooming & Corporate Etiquette was conducted by two experts from Nations Trust Bank, namely, Mr. Gihan Suwaris, Assistant Vice President – Talent Management and Development and Ms. Mandira Gunasekara, Deputy Manager – Talent Acquisition.
On the fifth day, two other informative sessions on CV Preparation and Interview Facing were done by an in-house resource person of NSBM, Mr. Mohamed Rushdi Hadhi, Manager – Career Guidance.
Concluding this week-long programme, all students had the privilege of taking part in mock interviews in preparation for getting them ready to set on to the corporate.
