Prof. (Dr.) Sudath Manjula Amarasena is a renowned academic and researcher with expertise in Operations Management, Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Logistics and Supply chain Management and international Business Management. He has made remarkable contributions to tertiary education and research, both in Sri Lanka and on an international platform. Currently, he serves as a Professor in the Department of Operations and Logistics at NSBM Green University, Sri Lanka.
Prof. Amarasena holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration (Special) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, completed in April 1996 with First-Class Honors. His exceptional academic performance was recognized with two prestigious awards: the Gold Medal for Outstanding Performance in the B.Sc. (Public Administration) degree program and the Gold Medal for Outstanding Performance in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce during the 1996 university convocation.
Recognized for his academic excellence, Prof. Amarasena began his teaching career as a lecturer in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. This role marked the start of his distinguished journey in academia.
Driven by a commitment to continuous learning, Prof. Amarasena was awarded the Asian Development Bank Scholarship for Outstanding Scholars, which enabled him to pursue an MBA in International Business Management at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand (2000–2002). During his MBA program, his outstanding academic performance earned him the opportunity to study as an exchange student at the ESCP-EAP European School of Management, Oxford, UK (2001–2002). This transformative experience provided him with a global outlook and enriched his expertise in international business. He successfully completed his MBA in 2002.
In pursuit of advanced research capabilities, Prof. Amarasena obtained his Ph.D. in Management from the Management and Science University, Malaysia, in 2016. This accomplishment further solidified his academic foundation and commitment to contributing to knowledge and innovation in his field.
He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Purchasing, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management System, overseeing its editorial direction and contributing to the dissemination of high-quality research in the field.
With an illustrious career in academia, Prof. Amarasena has inspired countless students, led innovative research initiatives, and contributed to shaping the future of Operations and Logistics Management education.

- Scholarship for Outstanding Scholars (NCAS): Conferred by the National Centre for Advanced Studies in Humanities & Social Sciences to pursue his Ph.D. at the Management and Science University, Malaysia (2013–2016).
