Mr. Iman Ashly currently works as a Senior Lecturer attached to the Faculty of Computing. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna under Electrical and Information Engineering in 2013. He completed his master’s degree in Electronics and Automation from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa in 2019. He is a registered Associate Engineer in ECSL (Engineering Council, Sri Lanka Act No 4 of 2017). His achievements include the Runners-up award for the technical paper; ‘In-Shoe Plantar Pressure Analyzer’ presented at IET Annual Technical Conference 2013. Also, he has given leadership as captain (2010) to the faculty wrestling team. He has gained multi-disciplinary exposure in the fields of Electrical, Electronic Engineering, and Information Technology.
Before joining NSBM, he worked at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna as an Instructor. During that period, apart from his duties in conducting practical sessions, he was appointed as the team leader for developing the department website. Later, he joined NIBM and was appointed as a Consultant/ Lecturer under the IT division. In addition to his main responsibility of lecturing, he had actively involved with administrative, marketing, advertising, and event management activities allocated to him by the regional center heads (Kurunegala and Galle). Thereafter, he joined the industry as an Electrical Engineer to a leading company and practiced for six years. During that period, he had worked hand to hand with local and foreign experts in several key projects vital to the power sector in the country; The first hybrid power generation system in Sri Lanka is also one of them.
