The Inter Club Cricket Tournament 2024, organized by the International Center for Cultural Exchange (ICCE), marked a thrilling two-day spectacle of cricketing prowess and camaraderie. Hosted at the NSBM Phase 2 Grounds on 6th and 7th of March, the event drew participation from 31 clubs, igniting fierce competition on the cricket field.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Prof E.A Weerasinghe, Vice Chancellor of NSBM, and Prof Bharatha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, among many others. Their support and encouragement added to the excitement of the tournament, inspiring players to excel on the field.
The tournament showcased exemplary performances from players across all participating clubs. Notably, M.F.M Imran was recognized as the Man of the Match, demonstrating remarkable skill and dedication. Additionally, Praveen Rathnayake stood out as the Best Bowler, delivering impressive performances throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, Maneendra Jayathilake earned accolades as the Best Batsman, showcasing exceptional batting prowess.
In the climax of the tournament, the Explorers’ Club secured the 1st Runner up position, showcasing commendable sportsmanship and talent. However, it was the Logistics Circle that emerged victorious, claiming the prestigious Champions title with their outstanding performance and teamwork.
Beyond celebrating cricketing talent, the tournament served as a platform for building cooperation and fostering bonds among clubs. Through spirited competition and mutual respect, the event succeeded in promoting unity and collaboration among participants, making it a memorable and successful endeavour.
