The 7th International Conference on Business Innovation (ICOBI 2024) hosted by the Faculty of Business at NSBM Green University is held today throughout the day at NSBM premises. This year’s conference, held for the seventh consecutive year, is themed “Digital Resilience: Navigating the Global Business Landscape,” fostering a vital discourse on strategies for thriving in a digitally evolving global economy. The conference format consists of the inauguration ceremony in the morning with parallel sessions and poster presentations in the afternoon. The research articles presented at the day were published in the ICOBI 2024 Proceedings.

This timely international conference was opened with the Inauguration Ceremony which unfolded at NSBM Auditorium. It was graced by the presence of the Acting Vice Chancellor of NSBM, Prof. Chaminda Wijesinghe, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. J. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Ms. Thilini De Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Chandana Perera, Dean of the Faculty of Science Dr. Nuwanthi Katuwavila, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, along with the participation of Heads of Departments, other distinguished guests, paper and poster presenters from various public and private universities, and undergraduates of NSBM .

The inauguration ceremony was also accompanied by several insightful speeches and research presentations, including two insightful keynote speeches. The two eminent keynote speakers were Dr. Minchul Sohn, Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Plymouth Business School, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business, University of Plymouth, UK, and Prof. Arosha S. Adikaram, Chair Professor of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The conference was successfully organized under the leadership of the Conference Chair, Ms. Anne Pathiranage, Co-Conference Chair, Ms. Dinusha Sathsarani, Conference Secretary, Mr. Dineth Bamunukula and Conference Chief Editor, Ms. Sunari Bandara.

ICOBI 2024 featured several noteworthy milestones, including the official launching of the ICOBI 2024 Proceedings and the unveiling of Volume 3, Issue 1 of the International Journal of Contemporary Business Research (IJCBR).

The evening schedule of the conference included a series of parallel sessions covering fifteen (15) focused sub-themes under seven (07) sessions, exploring key trends, challenges, and advancements shaping the global business landscape. Each session was co-chaired by panels of distinguished academics, eminent researchers and NSBM faculty members. The sub-themes comprised Session 1: Accounting and Finance & Economic Advancements and Data Analytics; Session 2: Adaptive Learning and Education Practices & Multilingualism In Global Business; Session 3: Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and Innovations, Human Resource Management and Applications & Global and Sustainable Business Practices; Session 4: Logistics and Supply Chain Management & Manufacturing and Service Operations; Session 5: Events, Tourism, and Hospitality Management, Marketing and Branding & Multimedia Streaming/Communication and Media. Session 6: Governance, Compliance, and Legal Enforcements; Session 7: Human Resource Management and Applications.

ICOBI 2024 brought a vibrant poster presentation segment on display at the Faculty of Business premises. A total of 18 posters showcased the innovative research conducted by NSBM’s final-year students from the 20.2 and 20.3 undergraduate batches. These presentations complemented the broader academic output of ICOBI 2024, which featured 44 research papers overall.
