The powerlifting team of NSBM Green University has shown remarkable performance, securing numerous medals at the All Island Shakthi Bench Press Independent Commemorate Tournament organized by the National Powerlifting Federation. During the tournament, P Pavithran clinched the gold medal in the junior 74kg weight class, setting a national record and earning the title of junior best lifter. Additionally, PMLS Jayasekara, WGHM Fernando, MSD Ranathunga, and RASA Ranasinghe secured silver medals, while DK Jayalal, RC Jayalath, LAW Sigera, and HPNP Kumari earned bronze medals in their respective weight categories. AWUL Thilakarathne and MTS Bandara also attained fourth place in their weight categories.

The winners were commended for their outstanding achievements by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, in the presence of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, and the Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa. The team was led by Mr. Sanjeewa Kumara, the coach, under the guidance of Mr. Desaja Dewapriya and Ms. Charmain Patrick, the Masters-in-Charge of the NSBM powerlifting team.
