The inaugural batch of the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSc in IT) at NSBM Green University was officially welcomed at a prestigious ceremony held on 31st August 2024, at the NSBM Green Boardroom. This significant event marked the beginning of a new chapter for both NSBM and the newly enrolled candidates, who were warmly welcomed to the NSBM academic community.
The ceremony unfolded with the esteemed presence of Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance; Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Professional Advancement; along with the Deans of the other four faculties, academic and non-academic staff of NSBM Green University, and industry representatives.
A highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Mr. Janaka Abeysinghe, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC. Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa and Dr. Rasika Ranaweera also addressed the gathering, congratulating the inaugural batch for choosing NSBM Green University as their academic destination. Adding a personal touch to the ceremony, an NSBM MBA student shared their experience, offering valuable insights and encouragement to the new MSc in IT candidates.
The event also featured a Round Table Discussion with IT industry experts, fostering a productive exchange of ideas and perspectives. The discussion saw active participation from many industry representatives, including Mr. Asanaka Attanayake, Head of Core Network Planning & Optimization at Sri Lanka Mobitel; Dr Kushani De Silva, Subject Matter Expert, CRDF Global for the State Department-funded programmes and founder/CEO at Gloir.K; Mr.Kapila Karunarathne, Head of Delivery at Exactpro systems and Mr.Tharaka Mahabage, Senior Architect at Virtusa Pvt ltd.
