NSBM Green University – Murdoch University Study Tour of Sri Lanka 2024 made a grand kick-off today. Facilitated by New Colombo Plan (NCP) funding from the Australian Government, this highly anticipated study tour is jointly organized by the NSBM Green University in collaboration with Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. It marked the commencement with a vibrant opening ceremony, followed by a formal meet-up with the Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University on the 25th November 2024.

The opening ceremony began with a mesmerizing traditional welcome dance and the lighting of the oil lamp, symbolizing unity and prosperity. The highlights of the ceremony include the Welcome Speech by Ms. Thilini de Silva, Dean, Faculty of Business, NSBM Green University, an Inspirational Address by Dr. Diane Lee, Academic Chair, Tourism – Murdoch University, Perth, Australia, and an Address by Mr. Ashan Karunananda, representing Thema Collection – Hospitality Partner.
The event was graced by Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake the Deputy Vice Chancellor, NSBM Green University, Mr. Venura Colombage the Head of the Department of Marketing & Tourism Management, Mr. Janith Iddawala Casual Academic at the Murdoch University, Australia, and the study tour Team Leads Mr. Thisal Yatawara, Ms. Senelie Gunaratne, and Mr. Navindu Sathsara.Also, the attendees included the 16 undergraduates from Murdoch University, Australia, 08 final-year NSBM Tourism and Hospitality Management undergraduates and academia.

This unique two-week study tour, running from 22nd November to 09th December 2024, focuses on fostering cultural exchange, experiential learning, and showcasing the beauty of Sri Lanka’s tourism landscape including a focus on regenerative tourism approaches and finding solutions to tourism-related problems.
