The Faculty of Computing successfully hosted the Software Quality Engineering Automation – Master the Hands-on Experience on Selenium workshop on March 14, 2025, at the faculty premises. The workshop, organized by the Industry Collaboration Unit and the Department of Software Engineering and Information Systems, provided students with industry-driven insights into software quality assurance and automation testing.
The session was graced by esteemed guests, including Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake – Deputy Vice Chancellor; Dr. Rasika Ranaweera – Dean, Faculty of Computing; Dr. Mohamed Shafraz – Head of the Department, Software Engineering and Information Systems; Ms. Pavithara Subhashini – Head, Industry Collaboration Unit and Ms. Yasanthika Mathotaarachchi – Lecturer and Main Organizer of the Workshop.
The workshop featured expert speakers from Sysco Labs Sri Lanka, who shared their extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in automation testing and quality engineering. The session included interactive demonstrations, real-world case studies, and a practical deep dive into Selenium.
The expert panel consisted of: Mr. Enoch Silva – Quality Engineering Lead; Mr. Shanuka Meegasdeniya – Quality Engineering Lead; Mr. Nisal Suranka – Associate Quality Engineering Lead; Ms. Tharushika Gunawardana – Senior Quality Engineer; Ms. Sanduni Chamika – Senior Quality Engineer; Ms. Amandi Attanayake – Senior Quality Engineer; Ms. Osuri Ganewatte – Senior Quality Engineer; Mr. Ninura Jayasekara – Quality Engineer and Mr. Zaid Ahamed – Quality Engineer.
Students from the Faculty of Computing actively participated in hands-on activities, gaining practical experience in Selenium automation testing. The event provided a valuable platform for networking with industry experts and exploring career opportunities in software quality engineering.
