NSBM Green University entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hithawathi, a leading initiative under the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka that focuses on providing support and guidance to internet users, and promoting safe and responsible digital engagement. This significant MOU represents a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing digital literacy, online safety, and cybersecurity awareness among the university community.
The MoU was signed between the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of NSBM Green University, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake and the Project Manager of Hithawathi, Ms. Niroja Jayawardane. Representing NSBM, the signing was witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Prof. Chaminda Wijesinghe, Head of the Department of Computer Security and Network Systems, Mr. Chamara Disanayake, academic staff of the department and Manager- NFORCE, Mr. Mohomad Rushdi along with Ms. Supunna Pathirana – Project Coordinator, Hithawathi.
Through this partnership, NSBM aligns with Hithawathi’s mission by integrating cybersecurity education and awareness into its academic and extracurricular programs. The MoU facilitates joint initiatives, workshops, and campaigns that equip students, faculty, and staff with knowledge about online threats, privacy, and ethical internet use. It also encourages collaborative research and innovation in cybersecurity, promoting a safer online environment while addressing the challenges posed by digital transformation.
This partnership strengthens NSBM’s commitment to fostering a digitally secure environment within the academic community and contributes to broader national efforts in ensuring cybersecurity and digital well-being.
