The Faculty of Engineering at NSBM Green University recently organized a technical field visit to the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant, providing Electrical and Electronics Engineering students with valuable industry exposure. The visit was led by Eng. (Mr) Iman Ashly along with Ms. Githmi Perera and Mr. Janidu Fernando, and offered students an in-depth look at large-scale thermal power generation and its role in the national grid.

 

From understanding the coal-based energy production process to witnessing power transmission infrastructure and environmental considerations, this experience bridged the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. The insights shared by the engineers and technical staff at Norochcholai enriched our knowledge, reinforcing the importance of engineering in powering the nation.
