In a vibrant celebration of culture and tradition, the NSBM Dancing Club proudly hosted the first-ever Shirshabhisheka Mangalya (Headdress-Crowning Ceremony) at NSBM Green University on 11th September 2024. This momentous occasion saw NSBM undergraduates, who had undergone extensive training in traditional dance, crowning exquisite headdresses as part of a deeply symbolic ceremony steeped in religious rites and cultural rituals.
Following the headdress crowning ceremony, the festivities unfolded into an elegant Kalaeli performance, where these newly crowned dancers showcased their graceful performance on the university grounds. The occasion was graced by Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Ms. Thilini De Silve, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Nuwanthi Katuwawila, Head of Student Affairs, Ms. Aushadarie Kaushalya, Head of Marketing, Mr. Venura Colombage and NSBM staff members. Adding to the splendour, the event was honoured by the presence of some of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated dancers, drummers and artists, including Mr. Ravibandu Vidyapathi, Ms. Samanthi Vidyapathi, and Mr. Chandana Wickramasinghe.
The ceremony was organized under the expert mentorship of the Cultural and Aesthetic Coordinator at NSBM, Mr. Dilupa Wijerathna in a showcase of talent, tradition, and culture, marking a pivotal milestone in the history of NSBM Green University.
