NSBM Circularity and Sustainability Community (NCSC) proudly hosted the Digital Hustle: IT Freelancing & Cyber Safety Workshop at Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, Kalutara. Designed for 150 A/L students, this event aimed to educate and inspire the next generation of IT professionals while aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and promoting entrepreneurship.
The workshop featured a range of insightful sessions, starting with an active introduction by NCSC members and an inspiring talk on NSBM by Ms. Aushadharie Kaushalya, Head of Student Affairs. Mr. Chamara Dissanayake, Senior Lecturer at NSBM Faculty of Computing delivered an eye-opening session on the “Internet and Safety,” followed by an engaging group discussion on cybersecurity risks. Ms. Chathurma Wijesinghe, Lecturer at NSBM Faculty of Computing then guided students through the world of freelancing, covering essential topics such as mindset building, practical activities, and advanced online safety for freelancers. The event concluded with an interactive group activity on solving online security scenarios, a Q&A session, and closing remarks by Ms. Gagani Pitipana Arachchi (Member of NCSC)
The success of this event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the NCSC members and the invaluable contributions of our distinguished speakers and supporters, under the guidance of Lecturer in Charge of NCSC, Mr. Sachin Kulandaivel, and Mr. Anton Jayakody.
A special appreciation goes to the staff of Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, including the Principal, Mrs. R.K. Jayasinghe, the Teacher in charge of ICT, Mr. Kasup Devendra, Ms. Suranji Nadeeka (Health Science), for their support in making this event a success.
