NSBM Faculty of Computing in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office – Homagama has launched a program aimed at enhancing IT and security knowledge among Advanced Level students in the Homagama zone. As part of this initiative, a half-day seminar was carried out on January 21, 2025, at the main auditorium of NSBM Green University with the enthusiastic participation of approximately 400 students, along with 20 ICT teachers from 13 prominent schools in the zone.
The seminar featured notable speakers including Prof. Chaminda Wijesinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing at NSBM Green University; H.C.P. Gamage, Zonal Education Director of Homagama, senior lecturers of the faculty and IT security experts from the industry. Participants gained valuable insights into current trends in IT and IT security through engaging sessions led by both faculty members and industry experts.
Building on the success of this seminar, the Faculty of Computing plans to conduct an IoT workshop for ICT teachers in the Homagama education zone in February 2025. This workshop will take place at the newly established IoT laboratory at NSBM Green University, furthering the commitment to enhance technological proficiency and security awareness within the educational community.
