The Installation Ceremony of the NSBM Circularity and Sustainability Community (NCSC) was recently held, embodying the community’s mission to champion sustainability and environmental stewardship. The event brought together distinguished faculty members and guest lecturers, including Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Head of Student Affairs, Ms. Aushadahrie Kaushalya along with Lecturers Mr. Sachin Kulandaivel, Mr. Anton Jayakody, and Ms. Sharmili Ravindrarajan, who have been pivotal in shaping the community’s vision.

The ceremony commenced with a heartfelt speech from the outgoing Vice President, Ms. Hiruni Muthukumara, who reflected on the progress made under the previous board and expressed confidence in the new leadership. This was followed by the Oath Reading, led by the newly elected President, Ms. Mandira De Silva, marking the formal commitment of the new executive members to uphold the values and mission of the NCSC.

A highlight of the event was an inspiring address by Mr. Maleesha Edirisinghe, who emphasized the critical role of sustainability within the academic framework. His insights reinforced the importance of the NCSC’s initiatives, particularly as the newly elected President outlined her vision for expanding the community’s impactful projects, with a special focus on enhancing the Thrift Shop initiative.

The ceremony concluded with acknowledgements to those who contributed to the event’s success, particularly Ms. Sharmili Ravindrarajan and the organizing committee. With renewed energy and a strong leadership team, the NCSC is poised to advance its mission of environmental stewardship, with exciting projects on the horizon, promising a significant impact on campus sustainability.
