The NSBM Green University has yet again taken another step towards producing global graduates by establishing its English Unit as the Department of English and Modern Languages.
The ceremonial inauguration of the Department of English and Modern Languages, currently attached to the Faculty of Business, was held on the 9th March 2022. The prestigious occasion was honoured by the presence of the Vice Chancellor Prof. E.A. Weerasinghe, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Dean of the Faculty of Business Ms. Thilini de Silva, Deans of the faculties, Heads of the departments, academic staff, and other distinguished guests.
The chief guest for the event was Dr. Romola Rasool, Director of Postgraduate Institute of English at Open University Sri Lanka, and the keynote speaker was Mr. Yohan Thilakarathne, Head of Corporate Communications at DIMO Lanka.

The speeches of distinguished guests, poetry readings of undergraduates in Japanese and French languages, and textbook publications of the Department’s academics added colour to the event and promise for a vibrant future that embraces cultural diversity and global citizenship.
