The Faculty of Engineering formally inaugurated the Association of Engineering Linguists (AEL) in a distinguished ceremony that was held on 30th January 2025 at the Green Boardroom. Graced by the presence of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. Chandana Perera, Heads of Departments, and esteemed faculty members, the event celebrated the beginning of a dynamic forum that bridges engineering and language through collaboration, creativity, and communication.
During the ceremony, the top board and executive members were officially badged, symbolizing their commitment to leading AEL toward its vision. A significant highlight of the event was the inaugural launch of the quarterly newsletter, ‘The Quill’—a vibrant platform showcasing faculty updates, student achievements, the latest in engineering technology, literary works, and academic insights.
AEL is more than just an association; it is a nurturing ground for students to refine their communication skills, express their creativity, and recognize the power of language in shaping the professional world. This marks the beginning of a promising journey, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and growth that lie ahead.
Ms. Gayanthi Mendis and Ms. Nethmi Udara serve as the Lecturers-in-Charge of AEL, guiding and supporting the association in its mission.
