The Faculty of Engineering at NSBM Green University recently organized a technical field visit to the Samanalawewa Power Station and Dam, providing Civil and structural Engineering students and Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering students with valuable exposure.

The visit was led by Eng. (Mr) Prabhath Buddhika, Head of Department – Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering, along with Eng. (Ms) Hiruni Dassanayake, Eng. (Mr) Vihanga Senevirathne, and Ms. Githmi Perera. It allowed students to witness firsthand the critical engineering principles behind hydroelectric power generation and dam infrastructure.

Students gained practical insights into dam design, hydropower operations, structural integrity, power transmission, and environmental impacts, bridging the gap between theory and real-world applications. The expertise shared by the engineers and technical staff at Samanalawewa Power Station and Dam enriched the learning experience, offering a deeper understanding of large-scale infrastructure projects.
