E4.0+ empowers the engineering undergraduates for Industry 4.0
As part of NSBM Green University Future Ready Graduate Model, NSBM for Career & Entrepreneurship (NFORCE), together with Faculty of Engineering launched a grooming programme with the name “E4.0+” on 22nd of February, 2023. The programme mainly targeted the students of the Faculty of Engineering, who are about to get their first-ever industry exposure.
The first edition of this program was partnered by Coca Cola, Michelin, Asian Paints – Causeway and E&P Engineering. The sessions conducted by industries included an overview of Industry 4.0, Career pathways for engineering graduates, and Industry Expectations from engineering interns who are stepping into the corporate world for the first time.
Sessions from Coca-Cola was conducted by Mr. Shamal Gunawardena, Director – Sales & Commercial, Mr. Anil Weerasooriya, Head – Manufacturing Excellence, Ms. Dinoo Wickramage, Manager – Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Mr. Gihan Sandaruwan, Manager – Quality Assurance & Environment, Ms.Ashani Jayalath, Manager – HR Business Partner – Supply Chain and Support Functions and by NSBM Alumni, Mr. Geeshan Attanayake, ASPIRE Management Trainee – Commercial. Finally, with the above team, Mr. Manoharan Nadarajah, Director – Supply Chain, participated in a Q&A session.
This team of representatives from Coca-Cola engaged in an interactive meeting with the Deputy Vice Chancellor of NSBM, Prof.Chaminda Rathnayake, and had discussions on the possibilities of future collaborations.
Sessions from E&P Engineering were done by Mr. Bandu Mahasen, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Kasun Eranga, Senior Electrical Engineer, Mr. Janaka Munasinghe, Manager of Data Center Design & Managed Services.
Sessions from Asian Paints- Causeway were done by Mr. Darshana Nawarathna, Senior Manager – Production, Mr. Eranga Hettiarachchi, Employee Relations Manager while Mr. Hemantha Lankarathna, Head of Human Resources was also present for the event.
Sessions from Michelin were done by Mr. Ajith Wijerathne, Engineering Manager – Process, Automation & Digitalization, with the presence of Ms. Maduka Dissanayake, Talent Acquisition Specialist.
All the industry experts paid a visit to the engineering laboratories in the faculty, and the visit was led by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr.Chandana Perera and Industry Coordinator, Senior Lecturer, Mr.Iman Ashly. The team was impressed with the modern facilities offered to NSBM students and expressed their willingness to work closely with the Faculty and to provide industrial exposure for the students.
