Profile
Professor Chaminda Rathnayake is one of the pioneer academics at NSBM who also serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor cum Director Operations of the university. He has served NSBM as an Associate Professor, Manager, Senior Manager-Academic Affairs and as the Head of School of Computing. His experience as the Head of National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), Kurunegala and Kandy Branches for a decade has led to his active involvement in administrative, marketing, advertising and event management activities of NSBM. Prof. Rathnayake closely engaged with the coordination of NSBM Green University Project from its inception and currently plays a crucial role in keeping the project sustainable.
Initiating his academic achievements as a graduate from the University of Colombo, he completed his Master’s Degree from the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC). He has also completed the postgraduate level of his MBA at the University of Wayamba. He also possesses vast exposure to various local and international training. These include training on, Transformational Leadership at Maastricht School of Business, Netherland, Vocational Educational Institution Management at Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of China, International Business at the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom, Mobile Application Development & Testing Best Practices-Computer Science at Society of Sri Lanka, and Information Access Centre Operations – Korean Agency for Digital Opportunities, South Korea. Chaminda is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Currently, he is following his doctoral studies at Stockholm University in the field of Citizen Science.
Prof. Rathnayake takes an interest in partaking in Personality Development activities of students and has an intense concern in youth development. He is the mastermind and the project manager behind the Emerging Young Leader Award (EYLA) Programme, launched as a project to celebrate the United Nations International Year of Youth, which later became an annual national event. He also played a crucial role in content management of Commonwealth Youth Forum 2014 held in Hambantota and World Conference on Youth 2014.
