The 3rd Annual Accounting and Finance Students’ Research Symposium (AFSRS) was held on 28th February 2025, featuring Dr. Nuwan Gunaratne, Senior Lecturer, University of Sri Jayewardenepura as the keynote speaker. The event was graced by Prof. J. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Buddhi Pathiraja, Director – Corporate Finance and Advisory, BDO Consulting, Ms. Thilini De Silva, Dean, Faculty of Business, and Ms. Anne Pathiranage, Head, Department of Accounting and Finance.

A proud moment for the department as our alumna, Ms. Harsha Kaveeshwaree, presented an insightful finding from her undergraduate thesis during the main session!

 

The symposium continued with three engaging parallel sessions:

 

1. Digitalization and Educational Practices in Accounting and Finance chaired by Ms. S W Thenuwara, Lecturer, Department of Finance, University of Colombo.

 

2. Navigating Financial Behavior and Investment Choices chaired by Ms. Shashini Gayanika, Senior Lecturer, Department of Accounting and Finance, NSBM Green University.

 

3. Corporate Responsibility, Ethics, Governance, and Sustainability in Financial Decision Making chaired by Ms. W T Y Cooray, Lecturer, Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

 

The Symposium was organized under Sympusium Chair Ms. Maithri Vidanakariyakaranage, Co-Chair Ms. Rhythmani Perera, and Secretary Ms. Madhara Prabodini.
