NSBM Fourth-Year Undergraduates of the Faculty of Science had the privilege of visiting the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC) on 22nd January 2025. The visit was organized as part of the partial requirements for the module ‘Advanced Instrumentation’, providing an invaluable experience for the students, and enhancing their understanding of nanotechnology and its applications.

The session featured an enlightening and engaging lecture delivered by Dr. Wasantha Lankathilaka, a senior scientist at SLINTEC, on a comprehensive overview of nanotechnology, covering fundamental concepts, current advancements, and future trends. Following the lecture, students were given the opportunity to explore SLINTEC’s state-of-the-art facilities. They were introduced to high-tech instruments and advanced analytical equipment and the scientists at SLINTEC demonstrated the functionality of these instruments, explaining their applications in nanotechnology research and other scientific fields. The visit not only deepened the students’ academic knowledge but also inspired them to explore innovative solutions for their future careers.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the management and staff of SLINTEC for providing this wonderful opportunity to NSBM students. Their generosity and commitment to fostering education and research are greatly appreciated.
