NSBM Green University proudly hosted the Nursing Pledge Ceremony 2024 which marked a significant milestone for the professional journeys of 46 aspiring nurses from the Faculty of Science. The ceremony, held on November 6, 2024 at the NSBM Auditorium, was a defining moment for these students, who pledged their commitment to healthcare service with pride and purpose.                                                                                                                                                     Ms. A. M. Ashoka Abeynayaka, Director of Nursing Education at the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka graced this special occasion as the esteemed Chief Guest. The event saw the graceful presence of notable guests including the Vice Chancellor of NSBM, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance Prof. J. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Dean of the Faculty of Science Dr. Nuwanthi Katuwavila, as well as the deans, academic, and non-academic staff from various faculties. They were also joined by other distinguished guests, including senior nursing professionals from Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital and the families of the students from the 23.1 and 23.2 Nursing batches.
The ceremony symbolized the students’ formal entry into the nursing profession, where these future nurses took their solemn vow to serve humanity with compassion, integrity, and dedication. To honour this transition, the students were ceremoniously presented with nursing caps and traditional three-wick lamps, powerful emblems of knowledge and the compassionate, skillful care they aspire to provide. With pride shining in their eyes and confidence in their voices, the nursing students took their solemn oath, pledging to embody the values and dedication that define a true professional nurse.
