The Company Academic Round Table (CART) for the BSc in Business Management (Project Management) (Special) degree was successfully held on 28th October 2024. The session brought together academic and industry leaders to ensure the program’s content stays relevant and meets current industry standards. This collaborative initiative focused on updating the curriculum and exploring new module additions that align with evolving business and project management practices.
A distinguished panel of experts shared their insights, each bringing a unique perspective to the discussion. Dr. Madhu Fernando, Head of Strategy and Organizational Excellence at Orel Corporation, provided her experience in project planning, resource optimization and change management. Eng. Saman Kandanearachchi, Deputy General Manager, Digital Platform Operation at Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, contributed over 21 years of industry experience in project execution, senior management, and telecom engineering. Eng. Janith Bogahawatta, Chief Engineer at Projects at Finite Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., shared his expertise in leadership, construction engineering and project coordination.
The event was organized under the guidance of Ms. Thilini De Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Business, and Mr. Shaja Musthaffa, Head of the Department of Operations and Logistics. It was coordinated by lecturers from the Department of Operations and Logistics, including Ms. Rekha Kulasekara, Mr. Praveen Ranaweera, and Ms. Lakni Horanage.
The event concluded on a high note, with participants expressing gratitude for this valuable academic-industry dialogue. The collaboration reinforced the importance of bridging academia and industry to foster an education that equips students with the skills and knowledge essential for their future careers in project management.
