In the culmination of the Religious Blessing Events to commemorate NSBM’s 8th Anniversary, an overnight Pirith Chanting ceremony was held on the night of October 25, 2024, at the NSBM Faculty of Business premises. This spiritual observance seeks to invoke the blessings of the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha upon the entire NSBM community—including staff, students, alumni, parents, and the university’s future journey.
The ceremony commenced with a vibrant procession, as the venerable Maha Sangha were respectfully ushered to the beautifully adorned “pirith mandapaya”, led by traditional drummers and flag-bearers. In a moment of reverence, the Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, carried the sacred relic casket to the venue with utmost devotion.
The ceremony brought together a gathering of distinguished guests, NSBM Top Management, Deans of the faculties, Heads of the departments, staff, students and alumni.

As the Overnight Pirith Chanting concluded, “Heel Dane” (morning alms) were humbly offered to the venerable Maha Sangha this morning. On this momentous occasion, the Maha Sangha graciously bestowed their blessings upon the NSBM staff and students, while also highlighting the university’s promising future and acknowledging the positive impact it has already made both nationally and internationally.

The occasion also saw the engagement of Vice Chancellor, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. J. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Deans of the faculties, Heads of the departments, academic and non-academic staff and students.
