NSBM Green University has been honoured with the Gold Award as the “Best Government Institution that Contributes to the Environment” at the Presidential Environment Awards Ceremony 2024 by Honourable President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The award was accepted by the Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, at the grand award ceremony held on 28th June 2024 at BMICH under the distinguished patronage of Honourable Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The Presidential Environment Awards, organized annually by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) under the guidance of the Ministry of Environment, is recognized as the most prestigious recognition in the field of environmental conservation and sustainability in Sri Lanka. The ceremony awards state honours to industries, organizations and individuals who have uniquely contributed to sustainable development through environmental conservation and protection.

As the premier higher education institute in Sri Lanka with a green commitment, this award further reiterates NSBM’s unwavering commitment towards environmental sustainability through the adoption of various eco-friendly practices. Having received the Presidential Environment commendation for the second consecutive year, we remain steadfast in our commitment to further expand our environmental sustainability initiatives.
