Prof. (Dr.) Dushar Dayarathna earned his PhD in Human Resource Management (HRM) from La Trobe University in Australia and his PhD thesis investigated the effect of high performance work system (HPWS) strength on organizational effectiveness in the banking industry in Sri Lanka. He has a special degree in HRM from the University of Kelaniya and an MSc in HRM from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He has also completed a Postgraduate Certificate Course in HRM from Postgraduate Institute of Management and two Certificate Courses in Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) from the University of Colombo and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Prof. Dayarathna is currently working as a professor in HRM in the department of Management of the Faculty of Business, NSBM Green University. He is serving as a guest lecturer in other state universities in Sri Lanka. In addition, he has served as a visiting lecturer and a tutor in La Trobe University, Swinburne University, Ballarat University and Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.

He is the first (perhaps only) Sri Lankan professor who is having a PhD in HPWSs. He served as the Head of the Department at the department HRM, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura from 2021 to 2023. His current research interests revolve around the HRM and HPWS. Prof. Dushar Dayarathna is serving as a permanent Associate Editor of the Journal of Brazilian Administrative Review. Moreover, he is a reviewer of many reputed indexed journals in the world. He has published many text books and research articles in Local and International referred and indexed journals. His main areas of teaching are HRM and HPWSs.

Prof. Dayarathna’s experience in HRM is not limited to universities. He has worked as a consultant on HRM and HPWSs in public and private entities in Sri Lanka. He had also worked as a Human Resource Executive in few reputed private sector organizations before joining the Sri Jayewardenepura University as a lecturer. He is a past pupil of GAM/Aluthgama Anura Central College in Yakkala.
