The most anticipated event of this avurudu season, “NSBM Siyapathsiya Udanaya 2024” is happening now at NSBM Phase 2 Grounds.

 “NSBM Siyapathsiya Udanaya 2024”, the annual Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebration of NSBM, marked its opening in the true spirit of avurudu, reflecting the traditions and cultural values of both communities. The opening ceremony was adorned with rituals, food, and activities synonymous with the New Year festivities.

The ceremony was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Deans of the faculties, academics and non-academics along with the alumni and students.

Also, it saw the esteemed participation of invitees from the partners of “Siyapathsiya Udanaya 2024”, including Platinum Partner – Kandos, Official Print Media Partner – Navaliya, Official Digital Media Partner – Divina Online, Official Styling Partner – Chanaka Perera Salon and Official Floral partner – KD Flora.

An array of special events and festivities were arranged for the day, painting the air with vibrant hues of joy, excitement, and unity.

These brought together students, alumni, and staff participating in an array of games and activities lined up to boost their avurudu spirit. Amidst the laughter and cheers, participants triumphed in various events, making the day memorable and cherished for all involved.

The most highlighted event of “Siyapath Siya Udanaya 2024”, the Awurudu Kumara and Kumariya contest unfolded amidst the grandeur of the event’s closing ceremony. From a pool of over 200 contestants, twenty-four contestants under both male and female categories were selected for the final round earned their place in the intense final round, all under the keen scrutiny of a distinguished panel of judges.

The Panel of Judges for the final round featured Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake; Dean of the Faculty of Business Ms. Thilini De Silva; Award-winning Singer Ms. Pradeepa Dharmadasa; Chairperson at 4rever Skin Naturals (Pvt.) Ltd. Ms. Chandani Bandara; Award-winning Actress Ms. Umali Thilakarathne; Mr. Sri Lanka for Mr. World & Mr. Sri Lanka for Mr. International Mr. Jake Senaratne; and International Celebrity Fashion Designer and Stylist Mr. Kosh Hewage.

Chamathka Dahami was crowned as the “Siyapath Siya Udanaya 2024 Avurudu Kumariya” while Lasaan Pathirana became the “Siyapath Siya Udanaya 2024 Avurudu Kumara”. The second and third places of Avurudu Kumariya were won by Sewmini Nuwanthika and Yureka Iroshani, respectively. Kumodh Randinu and Dushmantha Doradeniya emerged as the second and third place winners of Avurudu Kumara.

Meantime, the winners under the most popular categories were selected based on the votes and Sanduni Wakkumbura became the “Siyapath Siya Udanaya 2024 Most Popular Avurudu Kumariya” while Lasaan Pathirana won the “Siyapath Siya Udanaya 2024 Most Popular Avurudu Kumara” title.
